Hands-on startup experience
Innovation Education programs guide aspiring young entrepreneurs as they dive into the Silicon Valley ecosystem, guided by lean startup veterans, technologists, and experts in design thinking. Programs focus on problem-centric user development and rapid iteration, enabling participants to learn how to interact with customers, separate objectives from features, and become comfortable talking about their effort in a variety of forums.
Hosted by Stanford University Summer Session, the Silicon Valley Innovation Academy (SVIA) brings together students and professionals from around the world to experience the lean startup methodology, from napkin to early-stage prototype. Participants pitch their concepts to each other, form teams, and focus on customer interaction to test central hypotheses in an effort to solve important problems. Throughout the Academy, teams improve their product concepts, pivot to fresh ideas, and interact with seasoned startup veterans to learn about the entrepreneurial ecosystem through experience and immersion. At the end of the Academy, the top teams participate in a pitch night before angel investors and accelerators.
